101 Industries
In July 2007 101 Industries Ltd. approached Lapointe Engineering Ltd. to provide a design for a permanent building structure to replace the temporary portables used as office space. This permanent addition provided an area of 1775 square feet of office space.
Our scope of work included the design of a wood and steel structure complete with foundation that would allow construction of the new expansion. The building is constructed of a steel stick frame design, using primarily welded steel connections, with wooden stud walls. Shear walls were used in some locations due to constraints regarding wall openings such as windows. This design allows for maximized floor space using wooden roof joists, subsequently permitting a variety of interior configurations.
Structural Analysis software was used to size the steel frame and roof joists of the building. Construction drawings were issued in October of 2008. Lapointe Engineering Ltd. provided Quality Assurance services for the foundation and building construction phases of this project.
