LEL May 2011 - The Northern APEGBC Bridge building competition was a huge success. Lapointe Engineering Ltd. (LEL) would like to congratulate the winners of the strongest bridge, Grade 6 students David and Robert Charette and Grade 5 student Connor Newbery.

Lapointe Engineering Ltd. (LEL) was one of the many participants at the Career /Job Fair March 3, 2011, organized by Kitimat Employment Services and Mount Elizabeth Secondary School (MESS). LEL Employees were on hand to answer the students’ and visitors’ questions concerning potential careers in the Engineering field and to hold a draw for a backpack, lunch kit and ball cap. Congratulations to Kitimat Employment Services and MESS for a well organized and successful event.
Coming Event: The Northern APEGBC Bridge building competition which will include schools in the Kitimat, Terrace, Smithers, and Haida Gwaii regions will take place at MESS on April 30, 2011 (sample bridge is included in the attached picture below). LEL employee Kelly Kline, P.Eng., held a silent auction for an Olympic Hockey Jersey with all proceeds being donated by him to the ACT Telethon. A total of $81.00 was raised and Jordan Van Horne, E.I.T. was the highest bidder of the auction.
LEL At this year’s Annual General Meeting and Presidents Visit in Smither’s, the new Northern Branch Executive of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC thanked the past chair, Robin Lapointe of Lapointe Engineering Ltd., for re-uniting the Northern Branch in 2009. The current Northern Branch executive and membership of 200 includes representation from the Terrace, Smithers, Prince Rupert and Kitimat area. Click here for details.
LEL The APEGBC (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C.) Northern Branch General Membership Meeting was held on Friday November 27, 2009, in Kitimat. The event was sponsored by BC Hydro, BC Transmission Corp., District of Kitimat, Lapointe Engineering Ltd., and Rio Tinto Alcan Inc. Included in the itinerary was a ‘Behind the Scenes’ walking tour of the new Sam Lindsay Aquatic Centre. Click here for details.
LEL In celebration of The Kitimat Chamber of Commerce 22nd Annual Fish Derby, Lapointe Engineering Ltd. participated in a “Decorate your Business Contest” sponsored by the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce and was the winner of Best Decorated Business 2009. LEL August 14, 2009 - LEL was pleased to participate in the Kitamaat Village Council Haisla First Nation Golf Scramble at the Hirsch Creek Golf & Winter Club in Kitimat, BC. One of LEL’s donations, a Ping Putter, was chosen as one of the main door prizes. The Haisla Business Development Corporation (HBDC) organized a fun & successful event.
