ABB Substation
LEL provided mechanical design services for the main substation for the proposed Kitimat Modernization Project. The design included exhausting a 748kW heat load from the proposed bus bar corridor, designing an oil retention tank for up to 332 cubic meters water, MCC and utility area cooling, and roof drainage plans. LEL performed a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of the bus corridor to verify the analytical results. LEL designers coordinated with structural, civil and electrical disciplines to integrate the mechanical systems into the building as easily as possible.
