Cheslatta Bridge Flood Proofing
Flooding occurred throughout BC in the summer of 2007 due to the considerably deeper than normal snow pack formed the previous winter. The increased flow in the Cheslatta River threatened to erode a forestry road and potentially cause significant environmental damage.
Lapointe Engineering Ltd. was called to design and construct emergency flood proofing measures. The finished project included riprap up to 4 cubic meters in size buried in the road width and a 4 m wide 2 m high layer of large riprap designed to replace any eroding riprap along the river flow by self launching into eroded sections.
